Base Layers

This is your first line of defence against discomfort. Its primary job is to manage moisture. As you exert yourself, your body produces sweat. A good base layer actively wicks this sweat away from your skin, transferring it to the outer layers where it can evaporate. Wet skin loses heat far more rapidly than dry skin, making a damp base layer a fast track to cold & discomfort.

Mid-Layers

The mid-layer’s role is to trap body heat, providing the insulation that keeps you warm. The beauty of this layer is its adjustability. As the temperature fluctuates, or as your activity level changes, you can easily add or remove this layer to maintain optimal body temperature.

Outer Layers

This is your shield against the elements. The outer layer is designed to be impervious to wind and water. It’s the formidable barrier that protects your inner layers, and crucially, your body, from the biting wind chill and the relentless spray or rain. This layer is non-negotiable for any serious sailor.
